Police chiefs from across Minnesota are working on mental health challenges together for the very first time. This week, 32 police chiefs and command staff completed 30 hours of peer support training in Bloomington. Bloomington Police Department said it was a “first-of-its-kind event” in Minnesota, with the goal of creating a support network for police leadership.

Republican Kendall Qualls will run for Minnesota governor again in 2026, he told KSTP Chief Political Reporter Tom Hauser on Tuesday. Qualls, an Army veteran and former health care executive, is the first Republican to announce a run for governor next year. While Qualls has campaigned in the past, he has yet to be elected to public office. Incumbent DFL Gov. Tim Walz has not said whether he plans to run for a third term.
Office of Cannabis Management sets June 5 lottery for some licenses

Entrepreneurs waiting for their chance to get rolling in Minnesota’s recreational cannabis market will find out in a month if they get to be among the first marijuana businesses in the state. The Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management announced on Monday that it will hold its first lotteries for cannabis business applicants on June 5. The agency will draw from two pools: social equity applicants and general applicants for cultivator, manufacturer and mezzobusiness licenses.
