QUAD CITIES, IA/Ill. (KWQC) -- A conditional threat of severe weather is in place for the TV6 viewing area later this afternoon through the overnight hours. A layer of warmer air aloft will likely prevent storm development this afternoon. However, if the cap breaks, a couple isolated storms could develop and turn severe. The main threat would be large hail and tornadoes, and likely northwest of the Quad Cities where a Level 3 out of 5 risk of severe weather is in place.

Temperatures reach the upper 40s to lower 50s across the region. This leads to increasing clouds later tonight. Scattered showers move in during the morning and midday hours Wednesday, followed by dry time in the afternoon, allowing temperatures to jump to near 60º. It will also be a bit more breezy with winds south 10-15 mph.

QUAD CITIES, IA./Ill. (KWQC) -- A few clouds are possible today, otherwise it will be mostly sunny and warm today. There may be a couple isolated showers early this morning southwest of the Quad Cities, but those should dissipate by mid morning. High temperatures will reach the lower to middle 80s with fairly comfortable humidity for late-July standards. We will have a clear sky tonight with temperatures dropping into the upper 50s to lower 60s.

There could be a few isolated showers and storms that develop south of the Quad Cities this afternoon, but coverage won’t be widespread. I couple storms could be strong with gusty wind and hail. Heat and humidity will build into the area with highs approaching 90º by Sunday.

QUAD CITIES, IA./Ill. (KWQC) -- A similar forecast is on tap Thursday compared to Wednesday. We will see sunshine and highs in the lower 80s before a few storms pop up in the afternoon and evening. If you’re planning on doing the final Bix at 6 training run, you will need to pay attention to the radar. Otherwise, heat and humidity will begin to build the rest of the week. By Sunday temps will be in the 90s with heat indices as high as 105º.

QUAD CITIES, IA./Ill. (KWQC) -- Plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the lower to middle 80s are expected today. The humidity will be much more tolerable thanks to northwesterly winds. We’ll see a little more cloud cover passing buy tonight. A few showers and storms can’t be ruled out north of the area tonight which will keep some clouds around for Saturday, but overall we should stay mainly dry.

QUAD CITIES, IA., Ill. (KWQC) -- We have a nice few days of weather ahead after our stretch of nearly daily chances of rain and thunderstorms. Plenty of sunshine is expected this afternoon, Thursday and Friday with high temperatures in the middle to upper 70s, and overnight lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Our next chance of rain tracks in late Friday night into Saturday with a few rumbles of thunder. While there are still some timing issues, severe thunderstorms are not expected.

QUAD CITIES, Iowa/Ill. (KWQC) - A First Alert Day will be in effect from Midnight until 7 a.m. Tuesday for the potential of a few severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and a lower threat of an embedded tornado. The Storm Prediction Center has the TV6 viewing area in a Level 1 to Level 2 risk of severe weather. The highest risk will be from roughly Iowa City, to Muscatine, to Galesburg and areas off to the west. This is where a couple brief tornadoes could occur.
