TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rowdies are set to host Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 on Wednesday. “We know it’s a rivalry,” Rowdies defender Aaron Guillen said. “That brings a little more into the game.”This will be only the third time the Rowdies will face Orlando City in the Open Cup. “It’s the first time we’ve actually played them at home in a competitive fixture as well,” Interim head coach Steve Coleman said.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rowdies kicked off their first week of service event Monday in honor of Military Appreciation Month. “We’re just packing some goodie bags for our military,” Rowdies midfielder Nick Moon said. Moon and other members of the Rowdies organization are packing 100 care packages for active service men and women overseas. “You look in those boxes and to us it’s such little things,” Moon said. "To us, we don’t think twice about a toothbrush.

TAMPA, Fla. — Jasmine Artiga, 33, is the new WBA super flyweight world champion after recently earning a major decision win over Mexico’s Regina Chavez. Artiga (13-0-1) is undefeated in the boxing ring with six wins coming by the way of knockout. Now that she’s crowned a world champ, Artiga is Tampa’s first native-born major boxing world title and belt holder.
