    Punahou floated back to the top of the girls state water polo world and ended two years of frustration to an ILH rival. Kailoa Kerber and Synnove Robinson each scored three goals, and Ava Aguilera added two as No. 1 seed Punahou beat Kamehameha 12-3 in the final of the Kyoya Hotels/HHSAA State Championships on Saturday at Kamehameha. The Buffanblu won the crown in 2022 before the Warriors claimed the title the past two seasons. Punahou has won 15 of the 19 state tournaments.

    The Damien baseball team has established a bit of a dynasty when it comes to Division II baseball. Cade Lurito, Tanaloa Seguaancia and Aaron Rapoza combined on a four-hitter with one walk and eight strikeouts as unseeded Damien beat No. 2 seed Kapaa 3-1 in the final of the Wally Yonamine Foundation/HHSAA Division II State Championships on Saturday at Les Murakami Stadium. The Monarchs, the ILH representative, won the crown for the third time in four years and fifth time overall.

    The Kapaa softball team picked up a grind-it-out victory over Pearl City on Friday after pounding its previous tournament opponents. The change of pace allowed the Warriors to repeat as state champions. Jaicie Martinez homered and drove in four runs and Welina Carvalho-Bride hit the go-ahead run-scoring triple in the fifth as No. 1 seed Kapaa beat No. 2 seed Pearl City 7-5 in the final of the Datahouse/HHSAA Division II State Championships at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

    The Mililani softball team displayed some serious power Friday against Maryknoll and will add yet another trophy to its display case. Hinano Bautista, Kahiau Aina, Ori Mailo and Kodie Ancheta hit homers as No. 1 seed Mililani beat No. 2 Maryknoll 10-7 in the final of the Datahouse/HHSAA Division I Softball State Championships at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. “Very disciplined at the plate, and that’s what you ask of them. Look for their ball to hit,” Mililani coach Rose Antonio said.
