    BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. (WBNG) -- Sock Out Cancer is gearing up to prepare their fundraising efforts through the Dick’s Open, which raised $30,000 through Birdies for Cancer last year. Since its inception in 2017, Sock Out Cancer has raised $1.8 million for local hospital foundations to help those who are struggling during their battles with cancer. Trustee of Sock Out Cancer Bruce Boyea said the funds are used to help cover basic expenses, such as groceries, travel or other essential needs.
