According to the Cornell researchers, their simulations were misinterpreted as showing water on the planet. NEW YORK (WBNG) -- Chobani Greek yogurt is expanding with a new $1.2 billion facility in upstate New York. Governor Kathy Hochul announced this on April 22, highlighting the deep roots Chobani has in New York already. Officials said more than 1,000 jobs are expected to be created, and with a facility that big, more are expected to be made to keep up with the booming yogurt producer. When the facility is at full capacity, Chobani will process over 12 million pounds of milk daily.

Binghamton Police investigating shots fired incident

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) -- On Sunday, Binghamton Police responded to the intersection of Dewey Avenue and Overland Drive for a report of shots fired. The shots fired occurred in the area of the Saratoga Properties around 8:45 p.m. Officers located a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Dewey Avenue and Felters Road. Police said the vehicle was struck by gunfire.

TOWN OF UNION (WBNG) -- The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a missing man last seen in the Town of Union. Joseph Maine, 48, of Endicott was reported to have left his house on foot on the evening of April 19. Maine has not returned home. Maine was last seen in the Town of Union around 8:40 p.m. on North McKinley Avenue. It was reported that Maine is diabetic and may not have taken his medication and could be exhibiting signs of confusion.

ITHACA, N.Y. (WBNG) -- On Monday morning, crews responded to a four-car MVA in the 900 block of Danby Road, near the border of the City and Town of Ithaca. The Ithaca Fire Department said that around 8:30 a.m., crews responded to a report of an accident with injuries. Guthrie Air transported one patient to a regional trauma center. The fire department said that the roadway has been reopened.

(WBNG) -- The Broome County District Attorney announced that an 18-year-old was sentenced to nine years in New York State prison with five years post-release supervision for her role in a 2024 drive-by shooting. Daziar Gadson, also known as Daziar Blunt, of Binghamton, pled guilty to attempted murder on Jan. 9. Gadson received her sentencing on April 18 in Broome County Court. The drive-by shooting occurred on August 3 of last year.
