Savannah and surrounding areas are expected to receive snow fall as temperatures drop below freezing on Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service. All Georgia Southern campuses will be moved to virtual operations through Wednesday, according to Eagle Alert sent out Monday night. Our area is not equipped to handle winter storms. It is best to stay indoors and off the roads if you are able to.

We’ve entered a new year and new semester, and we’ve got the scoop on the latest campus news. PRestigePRestige is a student-run nonprofit PR firm. This is the first semester it will be offered as a course on the Armstrong campus, according to Dr. Haley Higgs. Students with three or more semesters left to complete are encouraged to apply and interview to be part of the course.

Colorado-based Ziggi’s Coffeeis set to open their second Georgia location in Pooler. According to their Google Business Profile, the drive-thru-only coffee shop will open on Dec. 10. It will be located off Benton Blvd and Jimmy Deloach Pky. Their menu offers specialized coffee and energy drinks, teas, Italian sodas, blended beverages, breakfast items and pastries. They also have a rewards program offering members free drinks, discounts, bonus points and more.

Donald Trump has been re-elected for a second non-consecutive term as the 47th president of the United States. He secured several battleground states, including Georgia, that were key in gaining the 270 electoral votes needed to win. Republicans have also secured control of the Senate. As of press time, the House of Representatives is still up for grabs, but Republicans are taking the lead.

November 5, 2024 Many college students are first time voters or unfamiliar with the voting process. An essential step in voting is knowing where to vote, which is determined based on your location in your county. Chatham County has a list of voting locations based on precinct for the 2024 presidential election. Another way to find out where you are supposed to vote is through Georgia’s My Voter Page.

While the presidential election may be a hot topic right now, Chatham County has several local elections happening this year. Here are the local candidates that Chatham voters can expect to see on their ballots. District Attorney The incumbent DA Shalena Cook Jones (D) is up against Andre Pretorius (R) in this race. Cook Jones has served as the Chatham DA since 2020. The New York native has worked in the legal system for more than 20 years and strives to improve its flaws.
