The Fundraising Effectiveness Project’s (FEP) Quarterly Fundraising Report analyzes year-to-date trends in fundraising from individual donors, based on sample data from GivingTuesday and the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Growth in Giving database. Since Candid data is focused on institutional grantmaking, we thought we’d complement that data by highlighting FEP’s findings on individual giving.

In the United States, philanthropic collaboratives—entities that either pool or channel resources from multiple donors to nonprofits—collectively directed between $2 billion and $3 billion to a variety of grantees in 2021, and our research indicates that figure has grown since then. The practices of this relatively new form of philanthropy are still evolving.

While the debate around the politics of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and social impact investing goes on, the fact remains that there is a yawning racial wealth gap in the United States. Estimates vary, but the median household net worth of white families is about seven times that of Black families and five times that of Latinx families.

This year, Equal Pay Day—which indicates how far into the year a woman must work to receive the same wage that a man received the previous year—fell on March 12. The National Partnership for Women & Families marked the day by drawing attention to the persistent wage disparities that hamper millions of working women, along with the steps that we and our allies can take to close this pay gap once and for all.
