The highly anticipated quarterfinals of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Baseball Playoffs saw the top-seeded Bear River Bruins hosting the underdog No.8 seed Gustine Reds (18-6, 12-2) on Thursday at Bear River High School. In a thrilling match, Bear River emerged victorious, securing their spot in the semifinals. The game ended when Max Williams drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning, leading the Bruins to a 4-3 victory.

On Sunday, the IndyCar Series heads to Birmingham, Alabama, for the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix. The race will be held at the Barber Motorsports Park. It’s a 2.3-mile permanent road course with 17 flowing turns and features 80 feet of elevation change that challenge drivers and engineers. A 45-foot-wide racing ribbon also makes it imperative for patience while setting up overtaking opportunities.

Bear River boys volleyballThe No. 4 seed Bear River Bruins (21-4, 12-0) showcased their dominance in the first round of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Boys Volleyball Playoffs — D-IV, hosting the No. 13 seed West Campus Warriors (18-19, 9-5) Wednesday night. The Bruins, in a display of sheer skill, made quick work of the Warriors, winning 3-0. The Bruins won the first set 25-15 and the following two sets 25-20, 25-16.
