The University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies women’s basketball team clinched its 12th NCAA National Championship in program history by defeating the South Carolina Gamecocks 82-59 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. Senior guard Azzi Fudd performed excellently, scoring 24 points and earning the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player award. “We as coaches felt like Azzi was the key to the tournament.” UConn coach Geno Auriemma said after the game.

Bear River baseballThe Bear River Bruins (7-3), 1-3) traveled to Marysville Wednesday afternoon to take on the Marysville Indians (3-11-1, 1-5). In a close game, the Bruins lost 2-1 to the Indians. Marysville took the lead early with an RBI single in the 1st inning. They extended their lead with another run in the 3rd inning, putting them ahead 2-0. The Bruins fought back in the 5th inning, with Ben Barley’s double bringing in Seamus McKeown for their first and only run.

As reported by highlimitracing.com, the Avanti Duel in the Desert at Central Arizona Raceway was a battle of wills. Kasey Kahne, in control of his own destiny, led the opening 10 laps, only to be overtaken by Sweet in a nail-biting display of skill and strategy.

On Friday afternoon, the Bear River Bruins (7-2, 1-2) beat the Lincoln Zebras (7-3, 4-1) in Lincoln 3-0 behind Kaden Nicholls’ strong pitching performance. Nicholls struck out 15 batters in six shutout innings. The Bruins wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard, executing a strong offensive strategy in the first inning.
