    The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger varsity track team won the Region 1A track and field championship; Davonte Griffin was named region track and field “athlete of the year” and MHS Head Coach Joel Anderson was named Region 1A coach of 2025. The Chargers ran away with the Region 1A meet at Charles City High School on Thursday, May 29. MHS scored 146.5 points with Lancaster coming in second with 113 points.

    The Middlesex County Parks and Recreation Department (MCPRD) will offer its annual cheerleading camp from June 23-26 for ages 5-14 at the Tom Carter Memorial Gymnasium at Cooks Corner. It will run from 9-11:30 a.m. each day. MCPRD Director Karen Reed said, “Join us for a week full of fun while working on skills such as tumbling, jumps, dance, stunting, chants and much more.”The apparel is black shorts, white shirts, and cheer/tennis shoes and the cost for the camp is $45.

    The Middlesex High School girls track team finished third as a team in the Region 1A track meet on Thursday, May 29, at Charles City High School. Rappahannock High School (of Warsaw) won the meet with 84 points; Westmoreland, second, 82.5; Middlesex, third, 67; Lancaster, fourth 61; Northampton, fifth, 60; Mathews, sixth, 57; West Point, sixth, 57; King & Queen Central, eighth, 46; Northumberland, ninth, 43.5; Charles City, 10th, 32; Essex, 11th, 25; and 12th, Chincoteague, 9 points.
