    The BASF FiberMax One Ton Club honored 56 qualifying cotton growers and their families during its annual banquet in Lubbock, TX, on Apr. 3. Now in its 20th years, the One Ton Club recognizes cotton farmers who produce yields of one ton or more during a given year using FiberMax cotton varieties. All three FiberMax cotton varieties introduced for the 2024 growing season (FM 765AX, FM 868AXTP and FM 823AXTP) were used by farmers who achieved this year’s One Ton Club status.

    USDA has released its April 2025 World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report. Here’s this month’s summary of the U.S. domestic and global cotton balance sheets. In this month’s 2024/25 U.S. cotton balance sheet, the only changes are a 100,000-bale reduction in exports to 10.9 million bales and an increase in ending stocks of the same amount to 5.0 million bales. The projected 2024/25 season average upland farm price is unchanged at 63 cents per pound.

    Farmers say they intend to plant 9.87 million acres of cotton this year – down 11.8% from last year. This is based on a survey of producers conducted by USDA during the first two weeks of March. These estimates reflect farmer “intentions” as of the survey period. This 9.87 million acres compares to 9.56 million acres estimated by the National Cotton Council in mid-February and 10.0 million acres projected in the USDA Outlook Forum later in February.
