This is the latest in the ongoing controversial and contentious saga of the Santa Susana Field Lab (SSFL), a highly toxic and radioactive nearly 3,000-acre site in the Simi Hills in the southeast corner of Ventura County. Surrounded by communities with more than 700,000 people living within 10 miles, SSFL remains one of the most contaminated sites in the country.
