NORTHBOROUGH – Tougas Family Farm may soon be allowed to serve wine and beer. Tougas went before the Select Board on Jan. 27, seeking a new general on-premises wine and malt beverages license. In the past, Tougas has received a series of special one-day licenses. “For over 40 years, Tougas Family Farm has grown and evolved with the changing, and sometimes challenging, times,” farm staff wrote in the application.

NORTHBOROUGH – A heavy commercial vehicle exclusion on Summer Street has been approved by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). The Select Board adopted the exclusion during its meeting on Jan. 27. The board previously approved the exclusion, which will run on Summer Street from South Street to Route 20, on Dec. 2. The Traffic Safety Committee previously decided not to recommend the exclusion, voicing concerns that vehicles would then have to turn onto Route 20 from South Street.

Main St. Founders Maqsood Mughal, Syed Hussein and Syed Faheemuddin have been playing cricket in Massachusetts for the past several years. “Cricket is getting really big in the U.S. There’s a lot of demand for cricket,” said Mughal. People look for places to play cricket, particularly during the winter when they can’t play outside.

HUDSON – For decades, Rosemary Rimkus shared the milestones of the residents of Hudson – weddings, birthdays, graduations, new businesses, fundraisers and everything in between. The “Keynotes” and “Hudson Happ’nings” author lent her pen to local newspapers for over 60 years, including at the Community Advocate, before she died on Jan. 19.
