Keefe Tech's Nate DeBoer was voted the Daily news Baseball Player of the Week for April 7-13. He put down 3 hits and 3 RBIs for the Broncos in a win over Assabet Valley. DeBoer received 50.56 percent of the more than 20,000 votes. he beat out Nipmuc's Cole McGovern, Gavin Metcalf and Dylan Muccini, who combined for a no-hitter.

A South Carolina man in the country illegally was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison April 14 after admitting to illegally shipping firearms to Worcester and Marlborough. Matheus Peroba, 21, received the sentence in U.S. District Court in Worcester, court records show. He will be subject to deportation proceedings after his sentence, U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts Leah B. Foley noted in a news release.
