This year’s match will again raise funds for Unicef, having generated over £15million in 2024. Last year, England took victory to leave the World XI with a narrow 7-6 lead in the overall standings. Soccer Aid will begin at 6pm, with kick-off at 7.30pm and should last until 10pm.

    Western Ferries' service is currently suspended (Image: George Munro) A SEARCH is underway after a person went overboard from a ferry in the Firth of Clyde. Emergency services, including a coastguard helicopter, launched the search after the incident between Dunoon and Gourock on Sunday afternoon. CalMac and Western Ferries sailings on the route had been suspended and Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service are also in attendance.

    Witnesses said Israeli forces opened fire around dawn towards crowds of desperate Palestinians heading to two aid sites in Rafah. Experts and aid workers say Israel’s blockade and military campaign have caused widespread hunger and raised the risk of famine. The shooting happened hundreds of metres away from the sites, which are operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, a group that Israel and the United States hope will replace the United Nations-run system of aid distribution.
