Rebecca Bricker Scholarship Committee and Sebring-West Branch Area Community Foundation have announced applications are available for the college educational scholarship. Bricker was a longtime kindergarten teacher with West Branch Local School District. Candidates for the scholarship must be current sophomores or juniors in college and must be elementary education majors or a related field such as art, music, physical education and reading specialist.

Alliance High School’s Social Justice Club and choirs put their focus on the arts during the annual Diversity Night event. The event had the theme "Connection Through the Arts!" and students showcased how music, dance and storytelling unite people across cultures. “Diversity Night was a huge success, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Social Justice Club and Vocal Arts Department,” said Maria McDermitt, adviser of the Social Justice Club.

Yeager, a seventh grader at Chippewa Jr./Sr. High School in Doylestown who won the Akron Beacon Journal's Regional Spelling Bee in March, incorrectly spelled "dialypetalous," an adjective that means a flower with distinct petals. He gave an incorrect letter where the Y is located.

Yeager correctly spelled his Round 1 word, “leberwurst,” on Tuesday and immediately moved to Round 2, which is a vocabulary word.
