    CALDWELL, NJ – Agenda items at the Caldwell Borough Council meeting of June included multiple infrastructure and renovation projections. The council awarded a contract to Caravella Demolition Inc., for the first phase of the rehabilitation of the old library building for $44,000. Business administrator Alex Palumbo reported that selective demolition and rehabilitation of the basement were included in the first phase. A contract was approved with Northeast Roof Maintenance, Inc.

    WEST CALDWELL, NJ – The Caldwell-West Caldwell Board of Education thanked and acknowledged retiring staff and those who have reached milestones with the district. Board president Julianne Grosso presented the Superintendent’s report in lieu of outgoing Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christopher Conklin’s absence.     CALDWELL, NJ – Caldwell borough attorney Craig Bossong provided an update to the governing body as to the borough’s fourth round of COAH obligations. Bossong confirmed the borough’s planner has drafted a Master Plan which will be presented to the Planning Board during a public hearing on June 11 at their next meeting. The Master Plan would then be submitted to the council for their consideration and approval on June 17.

    WEST CALDWELL, NJ – Councilman Michael Docteroff confirmed during Tuesday’s West Caldwell Township Council meeting that the Cedar Street pool will not be open for Memorial Day weekend due to a critical repair issue. The issue was not able to be identified until the pools were filled, and the filtration systems were running. It was discovered the pump house filtration was not properly functioning.While repairs are ongoing, there is no projected date for the pool’s opening.

    CALDWELL, NJ – The building in which the Caldwell Public Library had been housed for decades before being destroyed during Tropical Storm Ida in late August 2021 will undergo renovation. The Caldwell Borough Council approved an ordinance on second reading to appropriate usage of $957,993.97 in FEMA funding for restoration. Repairs will include water proofing and the replacement of furnishings and contents.
