Laura Plancarte is a London-based documentarist. She has been devoted to films and visual arts since 2009, and previously worked in Mexico City, Barcelona and Florence. She has recently released her fourth feature documentary, the filthy genius Mexican Dream. The movie tells the story of a Mexican woman who elects to take fertility treatment in the hope of producing a child.

Norwegian director, Signe Rosenlund-Hauglid’s creatively expressive short film, A Home on Every Floor, is inescapably nostalgic. Yet beneath the wistful memories of its real-life character, Norwegian-Eritrean social geographer, activist and poet Hanna Asefaw, lies an ominous commentary about gentrification and economic inequality. Based on Asefaw’s poem Sannergata 32, her spoken word performance in the short film is merged with her childhood home reimagined in miniature form.

The story takes place in a sleepy coastal town somewhere in England. Bubbly and cheerful Sue (Maggie O’Neill) runs a little gift shop, and helps to organise children’s parties. Her mother suffers from dementia, has brother has tragically passed away, and she has little interest in bonding with her sister. So she literally sets off on a motorbike with a heavily-bearded club bouncer called Ronald (Tony Pitts), whom she casually met at the local watering hole. That’s the last time we see her family.
