By now, you probably know that I dearly loved my grandmother, Katie Arlean Cox Wilson. Mama Katie, as we called her most of our lives, was born in 1904, and grew up near Okolona, Mississippi, in a small community called Egypt. She had several sisters and two brothers, all of whom lived in Mississippi their entire lives. As a child, my grandmother was charged with taking care of her younger siblings – one of which literally died in my 13-year-old grandmother’s arms.

In order to value something, we first need to understand its origin and purpose. We can all agree that family, government, and the church are important. They complement each other. However, the family plays a significant role that can’t be ignored in the stability of the government and the church. Modern higher education teaches that family is a social construct. Simply a man-made phenomenon.

What now passes as acceptable behavior in children is so bad, it might leave many wondering if a return to raising respectful children is even possible. Well, it is.
