From “Elf” to “Step Brothers,” actor, comedian, writer and producer Will Ferrell is widely regarded as one of the most prolific comedic figures in Hollywood, known for his zany characters and quick humor. Ferrell most recently served as a producer for the 2024 documentary “Will & Harper,” which he also starred in. The film follows Ferrell’s close friendship with former “Saturday Night Live” writer Harper Steele, who came out as a trans woman three years ago.

Disclaimer: I am currently writing this at 2 a.m., wired on about 150 mg of caffeine from a Guayaki Yerba Mate. I apologize if any of this is illegible, unintelligible, or just straight-up weird — it’s indicative of my late night delirium and excessive amounts of caffeine coursing through my veins. ‘Twas the evening before my 20th birthday, and I was absolutely swamped.

I used to like a boy who described everything as “chill:”“How have you been?” “Chill.”“What have you been up to?” “Just chilling.”And my personal favorite:“What are we?” “…chill?”Talking to Chill Guy was always perplexing, because I could never understand how he existed in a constant state of chill-ness.

To: <[email protected]>From: Lauren Chiou <[email protected]>Subject: Where on Earth did I put my bike? Dear Bike,Whenever I lock you at the on-campus bike racks, I lose you. I could leave you there for five hours or five minutes, and the same scenario will play out: I stare at a sea of rusty beach cruisers and ask myself, “Where on Earth did I put my bike?” There’s nothing more embarrassing than not being able to find you.

We’ve all been there. You just bombed your CHEM1B midterm, ruined your favorite top in the Anacapa washing machine, or got ghosted by your situationship the day before Halloweekend. Yikes. Emotions are high, life is horrible, your sleeve is stained, and there is only one possible thing you can do in response: cry. The only question is… where? Your roommates in your Chi-5 triple or Isla Vista apartment probably don’t want to listen to sniffles and wails from your bed.

I recently celebrated a milestone held dear to all overthinkers and ruminators: 1,000 notes app entries! In today’s digital world, where technology is increasingly intertwined in our day-to-day and a cellphone can be considered one of Maslow’s needs, a cellphone is a pretty cushy survival device. It can connect you with loved ones, track your health, and even act as a credit card (a plus if you’re like me and constantly forget your wallet).

Over the last few weeks, I have been waking up with an increasingly intense sense of heartache. As my personal life is peaceful right now, I felt puzzled. While wondering if something was wrong with me, I felt lonely and embarrassed about this strange feeling of painful contraction in my chest. Then I made a discovery. As I was beginning to lead a 7:30 a.m. meditation session, I inquired if anyone else was experiencing similar feelings. Hands shot up.

I got my first pimple the summer before my freshman year of high school. It was on my forehead — a big, red, inflamed dot on an otherwise blank canvas. I wasn’t really sure how to approach it. I didn’t own makeup to cover it up, everything online advised against popping it, and at-home remedies with toothpaste and baking soda seemed sketchy at best. So I was forced to brave the first day of high school with my zit. I cried when I got home.
