    Jan. 19 was a sad day for many of us in the United States. It was the day that our beloved app, TikTok, was banned seemingly for good, only for it to be back up around 14 hours later. But before it came back, there were many times when our fingers would stray to the graveyard of an app in an attempt to scroll mindlessly, only to remember that the app was unusable. Many, like myself, kept the app on my phone in remembrance. I found it almost funny that I had an app on my phone that didn’t work.

    As we enter the new year, people worldwide establish New Year’s resolutions to better themselves. New Year’s resolutions are nearly 4,000 years old, and people have tried to keep up with them since Mesopotamia and Babylon. Some of you may have already given up on your New Year’s resolutions. We are almost 20 days into 2025, and with everything that life and the new semester have thrown at us, it can be challenging to maintain our goals. A problem that many of us face is that we are overly ambitious.

    January 16, 2025 As winter rolls in and the days grow shorter, many college students find themselves battling the “winter blues.” At this point in the school year, nearly everything we have been looking forward to has now passed. The holidays, the new year and what was probably our only snow day of the semester have come and gone. Winter break was a much-needed reprieve.

    As a student at Clemson who has a food allergy, I know, like many others, how vigilant I need to be to ensure that I am safe from an allergic reaction of any kind. My allergy is common, but not so common that I need to stick to the allergen-free station. Most of the time, I can eat at any station in any of the dining halls and have no problem. However, something I’ve noticed recently is how inconsistent the dining halls have been in helping those with food allergies.

    In our formative years — when we first started to experience independence — whether in high school or the beginning of college, our ability to socialize was stunted by COVID-19 and the quarantine. Because of this, the use of technology increased tenfold. In order to talk to anyone, we now need to rely on technology, and this reliance has severely impacted our ability to interact with others.
