Summit and Oak Knoll have become synonymous with the Union County Tournament final. It seems almost every year the two crosstown rivals meet for county supremacy, and it’s usually a toss up as to which team will bring home the trophy. This year, Summit maintained its hold atop the county, holding off the Royals 8-5 to win its second-straight title and 10th overall. Oak Knoll, ranked No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, lost to Summit in the final last year and was looking for its first title since 2023.

Lori Johnson never thought she’d go back to coaching high school lacrosse. After decades on the sidelines at schools like Jackson Memorial, Eastern and Rancocas Valley, Johnson was content to coach rec teams. She started volunteering with the Southern coaching staff over 11 years ago, and when Joanna Fierro took over the program, she stayed on.
