One of the biggest weeks of the season is here. With the calendar flipping to May, it’s time to start taking a deep dive into county and conference tournament season. On Saturday alone there will be six tournament finals taking place - Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex, Essex, Passaic, Union, Bergen, and Morris. The stakes will continue to rise with each game. Cinnaminson at Haddon Township, 3:45These two teams meet in a non-conference showdown. Cinnaminson, which has won two of the last three meetings dating back to 2022, is 10-1 and 4-0 atop the Burlington County Scholastic League. The Pirates have won five-straight games since its lone loss of the season, a 10-6 defeat against Cherokee on April 17. Haddon Township, which is 12-1 and 7-0 atop the SJILL National Division, have won 10-straight games since a loss to Bishop Eustace on April 3.

Jack Bushey had only heard tales of the type of player he was inheriting as Sparta’s new girls lacrosse head coach in 2024. For the two years prior, Bushey had been an assistant coach for the boys team. He hadn’t gotten a good chance to see up close the phenomenon that had overtaken the entire Sparta lacrosse community - from the youth level all the way up to high school. Uma Kowalski was coming off of a sophomore season where she racked up 113 goals, 152 points, and 164 draw controls.
