The GroupM brand has been retired, with WPP’s global media arm officially rebranding to WPP Media. Described as a “AI-driven media company”, the new WPP Media will be powered by WPP Open, the holdco’s AI operating system. Globally, WPP Media claims billings of more than US$60 billion (AU$94 billion), working with “more than 75%” of the world’s leading advertisers in over 80 markets.

Following Microsoft’s announcement earlier in the month of a 3% cut to its total workforce, several local Linkedin News editors have been made redundant this week. Microsoft, which owns Linkedin, is laying off around 3% of its workforce — approximately 6,000 people — across all levels, teams, and geographies. According to CNBC, it’s the tech giant’s largest round of redundancies since the elimination of 10,000 roles in 2023.

The Seven Network has confirmed several senior leadership changes, including the promotion of Sydney news boss Sean Power to a national role, and the departure of news operations boss Gemma Acton. Acton was director of news operations, a role she had been in for less than a year. She was responsible for leading and implementing the division’s digital-first strategy, as well as overseeing budgets. Prior to that, she was Seven’s finance editor.

Dentsu Creative ANZ’s chief creative officer Ben Coulson has left the agency after less than two years. Kirsty Muddle, CEO of practice and product at Dentsu AUNZ, confirmed his exit in a statement to Mumbrella on Friday. “Ben has moved on from our team, and we thank him for his contribution and his passion around the craft. We wish him well for what’s next and he remains a good friend of this business,” she said.

Ahead of its full UK launch in September, independent publisher Broadsheet Media has made its first London hires. The culture and lifestyle publisher has made three senior appointments to the launch team, marking its first move to the international market. Broadsheet was founded by Nick Shelton 15 years ago in Australia. He told Mumbrella earlier this year that the business is “in great shape” to expand.
