Cara Sims added three more state titles to her cross country and track resumé in the 2024-2025 season, earning the Marshall News Messenger girls athlete of the year. Sims broke numerous personal records throughout both the cross country and track seasons while placing in nearly every meet she competed in. She started the cross country season with a first place finish in the first ever Jacket Cross Country relay meet held at the Marshall City Arena.

After hanging up the football cleats and focusing on baseball, the Abilene Christian signee, took a massive leap in his pitching skills. He upped his fastball velocity from 88 mph to 95 mph between his junior and senior seasons. Wallace holds a five pitch arsenal that not many high school pitchers can say they can successfully execute.

When Allison O'Brien stepped foot on the court at the Blossom Tennis Center in San Antonio for the 2025 UIL state tournament, she knew she was set to make history. O'Brien is the first Elysian Fields Lady Jacket to play in the state tennis tournament since 1967. Her goal since before tennis season started was to make it to San Antonio. O'Brien cruised to state. She went undefeated until regionals when she lost her first match but still clinched a spot at state.

He works as a specialist in lifesaving and care in the kitten nursery at Best Friends Animal Society in Los Angeles. And in college he was an equestrian athlete with a strong bond with his horses. In his journey coming out as a trans man, it was his horse companions whom he felt most comfortable with.

ATHENS -- Hallsville fell to Grapevine, 2-1, in a battle of dominant pitching in game one of the Class 5A state semi-finals at Athens High School. Lindsey Dubberly took the loss for Hallsville but was dominant, pitching all seven innings and allowing two runs on six hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Libby Ford went 1-2 with two walks and both Miller Goswick and Heidi Hart went 1-3 with Goswick being the only run to come in after a bases-loaded walk by Maddie McKinney.
