ABC Action News Anchor Lauren St. Germain listened to a Tampa Bay area woman who says the device has been a game changer in her recovery and spoke with a neurologist to learn how the implant can help people years after they have had a stroke. TAMPA, Fla. — It is a big step forward in Alzheimer’s research as the FDA approves the first blood test to help aid the diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease. The Lumipulse test has specifically been approved to help diagnose the disease in the clinical setting. Dr. Amanada Smith said that makes it the first and only test with that advantage. ABC Action News spoke with Dr. Amanda Smith, the director of Clinical Research at the Byrd Alzheimer's Institute, to learn more about the test.

TAMPA, Fla. — School is out for the summer for Tampa Bay area students, which means more teenagers will be out driving on the roads. This time between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the 100 deadliest days for teen drivers. It’s the time when car crashes involving teens tend to spike. According to AAA, crash data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows a 30% increase in deadly crashes involving teens during this time period compared to the rest of the year.
