Ximena Arias-Cristobal, the 19-year-old Dalton College student whose arrest following a traffic stop earlier this month landed her in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, will be released Thursday, her lawyer told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Arias-Cristobal was granted a $1,500 bond after being held for more than two weeks at the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin.

A homeless shelter providing wraparound social services has reopened in Norcross, where nearly 40% of the population is Hispanic. Funded by a Gwinnett County grant in excess of $1 million, the facility will be operated by two local nonprofits: the Latin American Association and Hope Thrive Support. The organizations will provide services out of The Nett Church on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, previously home of the shelter known as The Resting Spot.
