5月の最初の月曜日の夜、ファッション界の有名人たちがメトロポリタン美術館で開かれるメットガラのレッドカーペットに続々と集まるなか、グリニッジ・ヴィレッジにあるニューヨーク大学で開かれていたのは、スタイリッシュにドレスアップした犬猫たちのための「ペットガラ」。無料のコミュニティイベントを企画する「NYU Faculty Housing Happenings」が毎年主催している犬猫の譲渡会だ。 「こちらはクレオ」と、足の爪をピンクにペイントした4歳のチワワを抱えながら紹介してくれたのは、飼い主のグレース・フォースター。「ラナ・デル・レイのルックはもちろん覚えていますよね」と言う彼女が何を意味しているかを理解するのに、少し時間がかかった。クレオは2024年のメットガラでラナ・デル・レイが着用したマックイーン（McQUEEN）のヘッドピースをチワワサイズに再現したものをかぶっていたのだ。白いヴェールの下にアレンジされた枝から、前足に巻かれた赤いバラに至るまで、すべてがラナへのオマージュだった。...
