Michigan-based beer bar chain HopCat is almost ready to open its first Downriver location. The Southgate location is set to open to the public on Monday, June 30. A grand opening celebration is set to start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, where the first 200 customers will win free Cosmik Fries for one year. HopCat-branded swag will also be available while supplies last.

Street Beet is expanding to the suburbs. The popular plant-based pop-up, which is getting ready to open its first brick and mortar in the former Bobcat Bonnie’s space in Detroit, says it will also expand to downtown Birmingham. The Birmingham location will be situated inside a grocery store at 233 N. Old Woodward Ave. with a walk-up window for carry-out and grab-and-go orders.

Rock bands the B-52s and Devo are postponing retirement for a limited run co-headline tour. The 11-date “Cosmic De-Evolution Tour” includes a stop at metro Detroit’s Pine Knob Music Theatre on Thursday, Sept. 25. Lene Lovich, a fellow new wave artist who was born in Detroit before moving to England, is set to open the dates. Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 20.

Detroit rock band Mac Saturn has broken its silence after the 2024 arrest of former keyboard player Evan Mercer on child sexual abuse charges, saying it re-released its debut album with its ex-bandmate completely removed from the project. In a new interview with the Detroit Free Press, the band’s first since the charges were announced, the remaining five members say they decided to carry on as Mac Saturn and are trying to put the scandal behind them.
