    We had our first dusting of snow on the leaves, grass, and long-deserted bird nests. With overnight temps in the teens by Thanksgiving, the lakes will freeze and new snow will stick around until March. On Long Lake, Stillwater’s largest park, the late fall kayakers will be replaced by skiers, and “snow-mountain” will grace the circle to the delight of kids. The wild turkeys survived Thanksgiving, along with a young buck who meandered through our backyard eating native plantings.
