WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore is gearing up for its annual Christmas in July baseball game. The ball game brings out droves of community members each year, looking to help the organization raise funds for its Secret Santa program. Money is raised through ticket sales and sponsorships, and with that fundraising, UWLES spokesperson, Ryan Jackson said the organization is able to make Christmas special for families on the shore.

MARYLAND. – Parents looking for a summer activity for your children this summer, Maryland State Parks have you covered. The state park service is holding its Junior Rangers Program, where kids will learn archery, crabbing and fishing skillsand will be able to participate in arts and crafts sessions. State park ranger, Brian Bokulic said the program helps teach children the importance of protecting the natural beauty of the Eastern Shore.

KENTY COUNTY, Del. – With the success of its New Zealand pen pal program, the Kent County Public Library is expanding it to another country. Participants will now be able to make friends all the way from Vietnam. This time around, mail will be sent digitally; the letters will be scanned and sent to the school administration in Vietnam that’s part of the program. Return letters will be sent to participating Kent County Library Branches to ensure safety.

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Public Library is helping bring law services to community members in need. The library is partnering with the Wicomico County Circuit Court. Together, they’re taking legal services on the road, with the library’s mobile learning lab. Experts will be meeting with folks inside the vehicle to offer free legal advice. Library director, Seth Hershberger said they’ll be making multiple stops this summer at various locations throughout the county.
