Hartford's XL Center will not host any games, concerts or other events this summer. As of May 20, the XL Center on Trumbull Street is closed for construction. The arena overhaul is more than a decade in the making. "This is our troubled child of all the properties we manage," said Michael Freimuth, executive director of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA). The building was called the Civic Center when it opened in 1975.

A man has been arrested on murder charges in connection to the December death of an inmate at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution in Suffield. State police said 31-year-old Kyle McKinnon is facing charges after allegedly killing his cellmate, 26-year-old Kenneth Montaner-Buscampbell. McKinnon was arrested on Friday. Staff members said they found an inmate lying on his back unresponsive on a table on Dec 12. They attempted to resuscitate him, but were unable to do so.

Stop signs are self-explanatory - they spell out what you're supposed to do when you encounter one. In practice, drivers are not always following the letter of the law. NBC Connecticut Investigates looked into the frequency of crashes at stop sign intersections and found out, it hasn't really been studied. So we put some intersections to the test. We staked out five intersections in cities and towns around the state. What our cameras captured time and time again were vehicles rolling past stop signs.

Bridgeport police have looked at tens of thousands of video clips since September. The videos were captured by cameras on the school district's 248 buses, which are also outfitted with license plate readers.
