Well, obviously American vice-president JD Vance, his wife Usha and national security adviser Mike Waltz swanned in without invitation, used the excuse of attending a husky dog sleigh race to push Donald Trump’s case for buying Greenland again and lectured Denmark about not spending enough to protect Greenland’s security.

A little pain now (though not for her), will see serious gains … soon. Does she think we were born yesterday? Everyone over the age of 30 has heard the same empty promise from David Cameron, George Osborne, Theresa May, Boris Johnson and the Lettuce herself, Liz Truss. Jam tomorrow always justifies cuts today against the most vulnerable.

THE Cowal Community Energy group – recently rejected by Forestry Land Scotland (FLS) from taking on the lease to run a large-scale wind farm – aims to take over the land it sits on instead. Bravo. It’s a shame neither the Scottish Government nor FLS encouraged this community wind farm bid in the first place. But the ball is now in the Scottish Government’s court.
