    The man who died during an officer-involved shooting in Saline County has been identified as an Arizona murder suspect. The suspect has been identified as Francis Alcantar-Chavez, 23, of Tempe, Arizona. He’d been on the run since Sunday for fatally shooting his mother and stepfather at their home in northern Arizona. The incident in Missouri began Tuesday night when officers with the Concordia Police Department began pursuing Alcantar-Chavez who was wanted for the out-of-state murder.

    Charges are pending against a Sedalia man after officers find more than a quarter pound of suspected methamphetamine. The Sedalia Police Department reports Joseph Edwards, 47, was arrested Wednesday after officers with the Sedalia PD and the Mid-Missouri Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in the 1700 block of East 4th Street as part of an ongoing investigation into local methamphetamine trafficking. Investigators had search warrants for both Edwards’ home and vehicle.

    Five people are injured, none seriously, in a four-vehicle collision in Callaway County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports two SUVs and a pickup truck were slowing and stopping in congested traffic around 7:30 Thursday morning on I-70 about halfway between Columbia and Kingdom City. The patrol says that’s when an over-the-road trucker struck the back of the pickup and set off a chain reaction.

    The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down Wednesday morning about 40 miles north of St. Louis. The National Weather Service reports it received video of the tornado crossing the Mississippi River just south of the Clarksville Boat Club into Pike County. At least one home was damaged when high winds peeled its roof off and uprooted multiple trees. There were also reports of downed trees and power lines just south of Clarksville.

    A former church youth ministry volunteer in Phelps County is sentenced to federal prison on a child pornography offense. Bradley Colvin, 52, of Rolla, pleaded guilty in March to one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography. He was sentenced in federal court Wednesday to nine years in prison. He will also be on supervised release for life after his release from prison. He was also ordered to pay $84,000 to 28 victims that have been identified in the material he possessed.
