    Charges are now filed against a Jefferson City man who set off a police standoff on the city’s east side. Danaun Washington, 21, was charged earlier today with third-degree domestic assault, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest. He’s currently being held in the Cole County Jail with no bond. The incident was reported around 2 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Olive Street.

    An Audrain County woman wanted on three active failure-to-appear arrest warrants is taken into custody while in possession of fentanyl. Kristie Peery, of Mexico, was charged Tuesday with first-degree drug trafficking and resisting arrest. It was Monday night when officers were alerted that Peery was inside a local business. By the time officers arrived, Peery was walking away from the business. Court documents state that when an officer attempted to place Peery in handcuffs, she resisted.

    More information is released about an assault and weapons offense on Jefferson City’s east side. The Jefferson City Police Department reports they were contacted around 2 p.m. Tuesday to respond to a 911 call about a domestic assault. The victim reported a 21-year-old man had assaulted her and was armed with a handgun. She claims the man attempted to pistol whip her before fleeing into a residence in the 200 block of Olive Street.

    One of three people arrested with fentanyl, methamphetamine, and prescription medication during a traffic stop near Montgomery City pleads guilty. The traffic stop happened in February on Cemetery Road after a Montgomery County deputy spotted a car that had failed to signal, had failed to dim its lights, and was displaying plates from another vehicle.

    An Illinois man who pleaded guilty to his role in a drug-related murder in Crawford County awaits sentencing. According to recently updated court records, Malik Brandon, of Belleville Illinois, pleaded guilty May 21 to first-degree attempted robbery, second-degree murder, first-degree assault resulting in serious injuries, and two counts of armed criminal action. He’ll be sentenced October 30.
