(WTVF) — Amid a financial cliff at her former school, former Tennessee State University president Glenda Glover clarified Friday she had two separate contracts to leave the university. One of those contracts was around $800,000 to retire. Another was to buy out her remaining contract as the president of the historically Black college in Nashville. Those contracts total up to $1.7 million.

Glover wasted no time blaming state lawmakers for creating a public relations crisis for the school by vacating the university's board in early 2024. Glover said that caused a drop in enrollment, which in turn created even bigger financial problems.

This was only hours after the shooting, but it was the first opportunity for Metro Nashville Police Department detectives to understand why Audrey Hale was compelled to commit one of the worst school shootings in state history. Covenant School students Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, were all killed in the shooting.
