For six of the last seven Italian Grands Prix held at the picturesque Mugello, Ducati has flown the Tricolore high and proud as its machines have taken to the top step of the podium. In 2017, Andrea Dovizioso took Ducati’s first win at Mugello since 2009; Jorge Lorenzo followed that up in 2018, while in 2019 Danilo Petrucci bested Marc Marquez and Dovizioso in an epic battle.

Maverick Vinales believes KTM is “making steps forward” with its 2025 MotoGP bike after topping Friday practice at the Italian Grand Prix. Over the first eight rounds of the year, Maverick Vinales has largely been KTM’s leading light amid a difficult season so far for the Austrian marque. Updates brought to the recent Aragon test made their way onto the RC16s on Friday at Mugello, with Vinales utilising them to go fastest of all with a 1m44.634s in the hour-long Practice.

Trackhouse MotoGP team boss Davide Brivio labelled Manu Gonzalez’s test on the satellite Aprilia at Aragon as “quite impressive” but insists no 2026 talks have taken place. Moto2 points leader Gonzalez was given an opportunity to ride for the Trackhouse squad at the post-Aragon GP test in place of the injured Ai Ogura two weeks ago.

Porsche has donated €600,000 to two non-profits that help critically ill children worldwide as part of its Racing For Charity scheme run during the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. The German manufacturer has operated the initiative since 2023, for which it received the Sustainability Endurance Award from Le Mans organisers the ACO in two of the last three years.

Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi led the opening practice for the 2025 MotoGP Italian Grand Prix ahead of KTM’s Pedro Acosta, as both set identical lap times. The ninth round of the 2025 season sees MotoGP come to Italy for its first of two visits to the country this year. Under sweltering conditions on Friday morning in the Tuscany hills, Marco Bezzecchi kicked off his and Aprilia’s home race fastest of all with a 1m49.199s.

The TT organisers have done such a brilliant job this week getting all races in that it would be a real shame if the weather conspires against them to be unable to run the Senior.
