The Thrive Boxing team recently hosted its inaugural amateur boxing show at the Wortwell Community Centre. The event, which showcased the boxing talent of youngsters from Harleston and the surrounding area, treated those in attendance ring-side to a total of 16 bouts. Ten-year-old Toby Bicker got the action under way on what was his Thrive debut in a skills bout against a more experienced opponent in Albie Weaver of Ipswich.

For the majority of the squad, the 2024/25 season was a first exposure to senior men’s football on a consistent basis. The statistics will show that they only won seven of their 38 fixtures, but in terms of performance levels and development, Zachariou was pleased with how the term unfolded.

The final two remaining members of the ‘Lockdown Legends’ – Paul Digby and Jubril Okedina – are among the 11 players that will be leaving Cambridge United following the expiration of their contracts in June. The duo, who were part of the 2020/21 promotion-winning squad and also in the starting line-up for the famous FA Cup win against Newcastle United, have amassed more than 350 appearances for the club between them.
