ABSTRACTCoils obtained at the end of hot rolling of four different low carbon steels (DX54D, HX180YD, DX51D and HCT590X) were subjected to immersion in water for cooling (IC) as against the normal natural cooling (NC). IC produces significant improvements in the microstructure, scale formation, distribution of mechanical properties and surface quality.
