WASHINGTON (7News) — The District is facing a new class action lawsuit from members of the local blind community. Disability Rights Advocates, Relman Colfax PLLC, and The Washington Lawyers' Committee are joining forces on behalf of the D.C. Council of the Blind and five plaintiffs. "We filed an action in federal court," Michael Allen, a partner at Relman Colfax, told 7News. Allen is one of the attorneys representing the DC Council of the Blind and five plaintiffs in the suit.

WASHINGTON (7News) — 7News is getting an exclusive look at a specialized police unit created to serve and protect members of the LGBTQ+ community in Washington, D.C. "We've been pretty busy during Pride," Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Officer Gary Thompson told 7News' Lianna Golden. Officer Thompson and Officer Charmaine Evans Smith are two of the five members of MPD's LGBT Liaison Unit, which was founded in 2000.
