Authorities were called to the Newtown Road and Valley Green Drive area around 5:30 p.m. yesterday for a swift water rescue after a 911 report indicated 12-year-old Jordan Sims was swept away by rushing water while walking outside. Three hours of water operations were eventually paused for the safety of first responders, due to limited visibility in the overnight hours.

WASHINGTON (7News) — Twenty-six people were arrested Tuesday for illegally demonstrating inside the Rayburn House Office Building, according to U.S. Capitol Police (USCP). The group, with National ADAPT, was protesting proposed Republican cuts to Medicaid during a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing. USCP officials said the individuals were arrested for crowding, obstructing, or incommoding. "It is against the law to protest inside the Congressional Buildings," USCP added.

The rite of passage tradition for first-year midshipmen, known as “plebes,” marks the end of their Plebe Year. RICHMOND, Va. (7News) — A new Virginia law will soon limit how much time teens can spend on social media. Starting Jan. 1, 2026, users under the age of 16 will be restricted to just one hour of social media per day, unless parents give verifiable consent to allow more time. The law, signed by Gov. Glenn Youngkin, is an amendment to the state’s Consumer Data Protection Act.
