DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (DC News Now) —One person died and two people were injured after a shooting outside a District Heights grocery store on Monday afternoon. Police said they are still searching for the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting that happened outside the “Fresh Market 24/7” store. Fresh Market 24/7 reopened after several hours of being closed during the investigation.

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Tuesday is Democratic primary election day in the District. Five out of 13 council seats are on the ballot. One of the most contested races is the race to decide who will replace Councilmember Vincent Gray in Ward 7. Ten candidates are currently vying for Councilmember Gray’s seat. Gray served the council for 13 years in two stints. The race has no clear front-runner, but Councilmember Gray has endorsed candidate Wendell Felder.

On Monday morning, police responded to a shooting investigation on Connecticut Ave in Northwest. Police said that at about 2:35 a.m., they responded to the area of the 1200 block of Connecticut Ave when they heard the sound of a gunshot. Officers said they saw multiple people leave the area.
