Police in Fiji are investigating the alleged assault of Virgin Australia crew members during a night out on New Year's Eve in the tourist town of Nadi. Police said the incident involving two crew members, a man and a woman, occurred outside the Bar One nightclub on Tuesday night. Assistant Police Commissioner Mesake Waqa said the man was robbed and the woman was sexually assaulted. The man was taken to hospital and treated for facial injuries. The pair remain in Fiji at a hotel in Nadi.

Fiji's Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has dismissed MP Lynda Tabuya as a minister after an explicit video of her circulated online. Ms Tabuya has said the private video was meant for her husband, and called its circulation on social media a criminal invasion of privacy. Mr Rabuka announced his decision to sack Ms Tabuya as minister for women, children and social protection on Facebook yesterday, two days after local Fijian media first reported the existence of the video.

A toxicology report into the suspected alcohol poisonings at Fiji's Warwick Resort that left four Australians critically ill has found no traces of methanol. Fiji's Deputy Prime Minister Viliame Gavoka said the report found "no illicit substances or methanol", but he has not yet revealed the cause of the tourists' illnesses. The poisonings hospitalised six people after they drunk a pina colada cocktail at the resort's poolside bar on Saturday afternoon.

Australians are undergoing treatment at a Fiji hospital after consuming cocktails at a local five-star resort, as the Pacific island nation's government insisted the incident was "extremely isolated". Four Australian women, aged between 18 and 56, were among seven people sent to hospital after drinking at a bar at the Warwick Resort on Fiji's Coral Coast on Saturday. Jemesa Tudravu from the Fiji Ministry of Health said the patients were suffering from nausea, vomiting and "neurological symptoms".
