Illinois clinics are prepared to protect reproductive health care rights in the wake of former President Trump’s reelection, maintaining Illinois as a haven for reproductive care in the Midwest. Mary Jane Maharry, the director of communications and marketing at Planned Parenthood of Illinois, said Planned Parenthood is committed to continuing to provide care for its patients. “We don’t know what a Trump presidency will look like yet,” Maharry said.

Voters in Illinois will be able to answer three advisory questions on the 2024 election ballot addressing reproductive health, Illinois’ tax structure and election interference penalties. The ballot questions are not legally binding, and lawmakers do not have to pass policy initiatives that are approved during the election. The last time statewide advisory questions were on Illinois ballots was 2014.

Voters across Chicago will line up to fill out their ballots on Nov. 5, 2024 in the presidential election. For many, voting is a chance to participate in local and national politics and elect representatives that share their values. Voters must choose how they want to vote and how to combat misinformation during elections. “I think voting is very important, especially in this upcoming election where huge topics are being discussed,” Zoey Guziec, a senior at DePaul said.

Kimberlie Goldsberry will become interim vice president for Student Affairs beginning Jan. 2, 2025. Provost Salma Ghanem appointed Goldsberry’s to the temporary position on Thursday, Oct. 17. Goldsberry is currently associate vice president for Student Affairs and has held that position since June 2022. Goldsberry is temporarily replacing Gene Zdarski, who’s retirement was announced in September, following 10 years of service at DePaul.
