INTRODUCTION Smokeless tobacco (ST) refers to a range of tobacco-containing products that are consumed orally or nasally, without burning [1]. ST is consumed by 300 million individuals in 127 countries and contributes to approximately 350 000 deaths annually [2]. Its use is most common in South and Southeast Asia [3], where approximately 85% of global ST-related disease burden is concentrated [2].
