BUTTE — Scobey earned the first trophy of the boys tournament by defeating Fort Benton in the consolation game Saturday night at the Class C boys state basketball tournament at the Butte Civic Center. Manhattan Christian and Box Elder set themselves up for a championship rematch by winning Friday night semifinals, but the other four teams were left to battle it out Saturday morning for a spot in the consolation game and a chance at a trophy.

BUTTE — The Scobey Spartans secured a chance to play for a trophy by eliminating Lustre Christian 70-51 in loser-out play Saturday morning at the Class C boys basketball state tournament at the Butte Civic Center. With 33 seconds left, both teams sent in their subs with players exchanging handshakes with both teams before leaving the court to applause from both fan bases.

BUTTE —In the first of two semifinals Friday night in the Class C boys basketball state tournament at the Butte Civic Center, Box Elder kept its nearly two-year undefeated streak intact by defeating Scobey and securing a chance to defend their 2024 state title. In the nightcap, Manhattan Christian defeated Fort Benton in the other semifinal to set up a rematch of the 2024 state championship game on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.Southern C teams were eliminated from the field Friday morning.
