ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Transportation Safety Board on Thursday will release its final report on a derailment of a Metro train in 2021. On Oct. 12, 2021, a Blue Line train derailed in a tunnel while traveling from Rosslyn Station toward Arlington Cemetery Station. Nearly 200 passengers were onboard at the time. No one was hurt.

WASHINGTON — An upcoming Metro shutdown could impact business owners along the Red Line around the holiday season. The Red Line stations around Farragut North and Gallery Place will be closed from Dec. 18 to Dec. 30. Judiciary Square station will close from Dec. 22 to Dec. 24. Metro leaders say the need to fix track problems and replace a concrete beam. But some are upset by the timing. In a changing downtown impacted by the pandemic and crime, another challenge for some businesses.

WASHINGTON — The National Park Service has closed 17th Street between Constitution Avenue Northwest and Independence Avenue Southwest for to perform a test installation of the 17th Street levee. That's on the National Mall right above the Tidal Basin. The closure will last until 4 p.m. Wednesday.
