DENVER — Avalanche captain Gabe Landeskog is taking the next step in his return to the team. Landeskog was sent to the Colorado Eagles, the Avs’ AHL affiliate in Loveland, to begin a conditioning assignment. He will practice with the team and could play in the Eagles final two regular season home games on Friday and Saturday against Henderson. The Eagles play their final three games of the regular season on the road next week.

DENVER — Here we are, with three games left in the regular season, the fourth-place Nuggets fired their head coach, Michael Malone, and their GM, Calvin Booth. The first response is, ‘Oh my gosh, it's over. They're going to limp into the playoffs and be eliminated in the first or second round.’But that may not be the case. Anything is on the table for the Denver Broncos and the possibility of a new stadium, according to what we heard from Broncos owner Greg Penner at the NFL’s annual spring meetings in Florida. FORT COLLINS, Colo. — The Colorado State Rams didn't have to go far to find their new head basketball coach — just one chair over from Niko Medved. One day after Medved was introduced as head coach at the University of Minnesota, CSU announced it had hired Ali Farokhmanesh to take his place. Farokhmanesh has spent the past seven seasons in Fort Collins as an assistant and, most recently, associate head coach.
