Project OverviewInuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) is seeking a consultant to conduct a program evaluation of the Canada-Inuit Nunangat-United Kingdom Arctic Research Programme – CINUK 2021-2025. The CINUK program is a partnership between Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, United Kingdom Research and Innovation, Polar Knowledge Canada, the National Research Council of Canada, Parks Canada Agency, and Fonds de recherche du Québec.

Leaders across Canada’s territories are reflecting on what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has meant to the North, following his announcement Monday that he will resign as prime minister once the Liberal Party selects a new leader. Natan Obed, president of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), said on Monday that Trudeau’s leadership brought an “unprecedented time of access for Inuit,” and a focus on reconciliation — something he hopes won’t significantly change under Trudeau’s successor.

Indigenous leaders in Canada weighed in on the announcement by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that he will resign as party leader and as prime minister. Inuit leaders enjoyed the sort of access to cabinet under Trudeau that was not usual under previous Canadian leaders, said ITK President Natan Obed. He said the prime minister built real connections with Inuit in communities in all four regions of their homeland.

December 12, 2024OTTAWA – Ceporah Mearns is a life-long learner, knowledge keeper, tireless advocate for incorporating Inuit traditional knowledge into work and research, and now, recipient of the 2024 Inuit Recognition Award. The Inuit Recognition Award, adjudicated by ArcticNet’s Inuit Research Management Committee, is presented annually to an Inuk who promotes Inuit self-determination in research.
