DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Four men face felony charges following a string of retail thefts at Home Depot stores in Downers Grove, Woodridge and Carol Stream. Police say the men stole thousands of dollars in tools and other items during the incidents, which took place between late February and April 14. Criztobal Alvarez-Olivera, 31, and Marcos Alvarez-Olivera, 29, both of Chicago, and David Flores, 41, and Rafael Felix, 33, both of Cicero, were charged with burglary and retail theft.

ILLINOIS— One Chicago suburb recently snagged the top spot for healthy living on Livability's 2025 roundup of Best Places to Live. The study evaluated small and mid-sized cities throughout the United States, ranking Naperville #1 in the nation for health. Naperville beat out Sugar Land Texas, Columbia Maryland, Flower Mound, Texas and Carmel Indiana for the top spot. Evanston was ranked as the sixth city in the nation for health.

Teacher Charged With Sex Assault In Downers Pleads Not Guilty

DOWNERS GROVE, IL — A woman accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old student during a tutoring session at Downers Grove South High School has pleaded not guilty. Christina Formella, 30, entered a not guilty plea Monday to felony charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and aggravated sexual abuse in connection with the December 2023 incident. Formella was arrested during a traffic stop on March 16.
